Part IV: Voyage to Houyhnhnm

In this part Gulliver has come back to his pregnant wife and stayed for 5 months until he sets sail again on the Adventure encountering many of his men falling to disease and he recruits as he travels. His men then come up with a mutiny and he is thrown of the boat and washes up on land and is greeted by animals. Ugly animals began to form around him and he flee's and hears a horse scare away the creatures. The horse begins to communicate with him and then a second comes to discuss with the horse and Gulliver disoriented believes they are magicians disguised as horses and learns that they are from Yahoo and Gulliver is on the isle of Houyhnhnm. Gulliver is then taken to a ranch and is greeted with open arms (hooves) and a horse will teach him the language and how to pronounce it right. Gulliver then learns the language and the horses are impressed with his intellect and curiosity and after three months he can fully communicate. Gulliver explains the ways of how horses are used in England and the horses feel disrespected on how they are used and explain what they do in a nutshell. In chapter five over the course of two years, Gulliver describes the state of affairs in Europe, speaking to his Houyhnhnm master about the English Revolution and the war with France. He is asked to explain the causes of war, and he does his best to provide reasons. He is also asked to speak of law and the justice system, which he does in some detail. As well Gulliver talks about the currency and food humans eat to the horses in a continuation for chapter 6. And as well he talks about the jobs that humans do in Europe and the discussion lasts for awhile. Gulliver in chapter seven develops a liking to the mass intellect of the Houyhnhnm's and does not think of going back to human kind and compares the Yahoo's, the creatures Gulliver was surrounded by in the beginning as humans. He then talks with the Yahoo's and finds they are malicious yet cowardly and have vast similarities as told by the horses to humans.

Gulliver visits the Grand Assembly and the Houyhnhnm's are trying to figure out ways to get rid of the Yahoo's and come to a decision to castrate them and make them breed no longer. Gulliver is as well amazed at that They create excellent poetry, have a sound knowledge of medicinal herbs, build simple houses, and usually live about seventy or seventy-five years, dying of old age. They feel no sorrow about death, accepting it as a routine element of life. They have no writing system and no word to express anything evil. All in all Gulliver is quite comfortable with the way the Houyhnhnm's treat him and sets out to find a island to live on and is then struck by an arrow in his travels and meets a guy named Don Pedro who laughs at his language and is forced back to England. I did not see this coming and i was surprised but he was sent back when he wanted to live his life away from Europe. But, he did have a wife and others that thought he was pronounced dead and are happy to see him once more. I found this to be a good book but in some cases not to be a much of a satire but some aspects of one. It was good and I encourage people to read all 318 pages of this good satire book.
